San Francisco Commute

I meant to post this a while ago, but before we left San Francisco I brought a camera along on my commute to work.  I walked to the Hillsdale Caltrain station in San Mateo and took the train to 4th and King in San Francisco.  I walked from there to my office at 650 California Street.  I can't say I miss commuting for almost 2 hours every day, but I have no complaints about the walk.  Here are the sights along the way...

Caltrain Station
Not much to see heading up 4th Street.  Moving toward downtown.

Yerba Buena Gardens is a great hang out spot for families.  They have bowling, ice skating, Zeum (and kids' museum), playgrounds, fountains and even a carousel.  Following are some photos through the Yerba Buena Gardens complex.  The complex spans two city blocks with an overstreet walkway connecting the two sections.  Some photos are views of the city from the walkway.

View of SFMOMA.

Most mornings I saw people practicing tai chi (or something like it).

St. Patrick's Church, directly across from Yerba Buena.

Traveling on, I cross Mission and head up Yerba Buena Lane, which houses some sweets shops and museums.

Contemporary Jewish Museum

View across Market Street.

View down Market Street to the Embarcadero.

View from Grant Avenue down Maiden Lane, towards Union Square.

Some of the shopping on Grant Ave.

More Chinatown, across California Street.
